Brother, You’re Never Fully Dressed Without A Smile

All of this Girls Gone Wild Book Club talk about sex and porn has really gotten my imagination going. So I will share a few serious and hopefully relevant links on the subject! Plus the funny bits, of course. Please to enjoy…

This Film Is Not Yet Rated (dir. Kirby Dick, 2006) is a documentary about how the Motion Picture Association Of America (MPAA) goes about rating movies, with a specific focus on sex and to a lesser extent, violence. It’s fascinating stuff. This trailer describes what the G, PG, PG-13, R, and NC-17 or X entail. My favorite is the phrase “aberrational behavior” accompanied by a cartoon of a shark butt-fucking a whale. Heh. And just an FYI: The film is available now on Netflix Instant if you have an account over there.

NBC’s “To Catch A Predator” with Chris Hansen has been a huge ratings hit, exposing pedophiles on the internet. Re-runs are currently shown on MSNBC. Here’s a fan-created compilation of some of the best episodes:

On the more comedic end of things, we have the oh-so-relevant song, “The Internet Is For Porn” from the Broadway phenomenon — with puppets!!! — “Avenue Q”

If you only click on one of these videos today, make it Eddie Izzard’s “Dress To Kill” stand-up comedy bit on “executive transvestites”! Pure. Comedy. Gold. This special is also on Netflix Instant right now in full, should you have a membership. Sorry the YouTube video quality is so poor!

I definitely recommend watching the complete movie of Repo! The Genetic Opera (dir. Darren Lynn Bousman, 2008). It’s a futuristic dystopian world where people are dying from organ failure. GeneCo develops artificial organs for sale. If you can’t pay on your installment plan as owed, the mysterious Repo Man comes to collect said organ, resulting in your death. Meanwhile, elective surgery has become a fashion and people are addicted to the pain medication Zydrate, which the Graverobber extracts from the bodies of the dead and illegally sells on the street. Oh, and it features Paris Hilton as the daughter of the dying (unable to be saved by his own technology) GeneCo founder and one of the fashion-organ-obsessed. Here is a scene that never made the final cut of the movie, where she tries to seduce Graverobber in lieu of paying for her Zydrate hit, inviting him to “Come Up & Try My New Parts.”

Draw your own conclusions on the song “Coin-Operated Boy” by The Dresden Dolls. *wink*wink*nudge*nudge*

And finally, this is probably deeply inappropriate, but the song “You’re Never Fully Dressed Without A Smile” from the movie Annie (dir. John Huston, 1982) popped into my head when pondering these subjects!
