Or, As She Is Lovingly Known, “Tits McGee”

One of my friends, who shall remain nameless for the time being, was talking to me about this blog. Which in and of itself is awesome because I have no idea what I’m doing and any criticism, positive or negative, is welcome. Seriously. Hit me with your best shot. And stuff and things.

She said that in my book reviews (yes…all two of them) there were times when I went off and had a “Mollie Katie Moment” where I talked about my own personal opinion.  And, is that normal in book reviews or not? Answer: The trend I’ve seen is for the reviewer to generally be pretty sterile or limit her “personal life” kind of comments much more than I have been doing. But I have trouble limiting myself. I got into reading as a kid to escape my not-so-nice home life. Reading is an intensely personal experience to me. I don’t know how to remove myself 100% from a book review. When I edited down the two that I’ve posted thus far, the only substantive cuts I made were to information about myself. And if you know me on Twitter, you know I’m the Queen of TMI. It’s hard for me to shut up about myself; and, of course, we’re all narcissists on the Twitters.

So I end up putting all that extra stuff — stories about my cat literally killing a mouse with kindness or my take on Republican socialite/pundit Meghan McCain — into other posts or into the comments section. I’ve decided to make it a regular thing. Maybe call it “Me Me Me…Monday” in my alliteration scheme? A teeny tiny slice of me so I don’t go overboard and I can pretend to be semi-professional in my book reviews.

Ask me questions, get some answers. Bookish things or not.

I’m also fooling around with the idea of doing a book club, as the same nameless — and genius — friend suggested. I pick a book, then the next week or month or appropriate timetable later, I talk about it with a guest and post the transcript (instant messaging style) of our conversation. So you don’t technically have to read the book to participate. But if you want to, you can. It’s like the back-and-forth in the comments with Jen and Sarah that I’ve done so far. That’s been wicked fun and I want to actively engage people more on my blog. It’s weird just shouting into the void, y’know? Drop me an e-mail if you’re interested in collaborating on the ideas end of things: MKisStacked@Gmail.com!

Don’t worry! (As if you were! Haha.) I’m going to announce the book club selection otherwise on the blog so you can follow along at home. Pantsless. As I imagine you all to be.

    Brilliant.

I know tomorrow is going to be a big day if I have to plan an outfit that includes pants. My life is seriously pathetic and/or awesome right now, depending on your view of pants.
